What CallScout Pro Cannot Do

Read this before your trial so nothing surprises you on day two.

Why we published this

Most software sites make you discover the limits after you have signed up. That wastes your time and ours. If CallScout Pro is wrong for your business, the cheapest moment to find out is right now.

Here is the full list.

It is Android only

Call detection runs on an Android phone. There is no iPhone version, and there is not one planned in the near term.

The Android phone needs version 5.0 or higher and an internet connection. It can be the handset your business already uses. You do not need a new SIM, a new number, or any extra hardware.

The call has to ring on that Android phone

This is the limit people miss most often, so read it twice.

CallScout Pro reads calls arriving on the Android handset. If you take orders on a landline that does not also ring on an Android phone, we cannot see those calls. No app on a phone can.

If your landline is forwarded to a mobile, or your business number is already a mobile number, you are fine. If your orders come in on a desk phone wired to a wall socket and nothing else, we are not the product for you.

We do not import your existing customer list

There is no CSV upload and no bulk import. If you already keep a spreadsheet of 800 customers, you cannot load it in.

This is a deliberate choice, not a missing feature. Imported lists are usually stale, partly duplicated, and take longer to clean than to rebuild. Your list here builds itself as calls come in: the first time a number rings you, a record is created and your staff fills in the name and address during the call. You can also add or edit a customer by hand at any time.

The practical effect is that week one is worth less than week four. Say so to your staff before you start, so nobody judges the tool on day two.

Line counts are capped per plan

Starter covers one line. Professional covers two. Business covers four. Operator seats match those line counts.

There is no unlimited-lines plan. If you run more than four lines, contact us before subscribing and we will tell you honestly whether we can serve you.

Customer records are capped too, except on the top plan

Starter holds 500 customer records. Professional holds 1,500. Business has no limit.

For most single-location businesses 500 is more than a year of regulars, but a high-volume takeaway can pass it sooner than you expect. If you are close to the cap, move up a plan rather than deleting old records.

It does not record calls

No audio is captured, stored or transcribed. If you need call recording for training or compliance, you need a different category of product.

It is not a CRM

You get caller identification, customer records, order history, notes and tags. You do not get pipelines, deal stages, email sequences, invoicing or reporting dashboards. Small businesses that need those should use a CRM and treat us as the thing that answers the phone faster.

It is not an auto-attendant or a voice bot

CallScout Pro does not answer calls for you, does not play menus, and does not take orders on its own. A human still picks up. We only make sure that human already knows who is on the line.

It needs a screen and a connection

The popup appears on a web dashboard, so you need a computer or tablet with a modern browser where staff can see it, plus internet on both the Android phone and that screen. If your counter has neither, this will not work.

What is left

If you take calls on an Android handset, have a screen at the counter, and want your staff to know the caller before they say hello, that is exactly what this does and it sets up in about five minutes.

If any line above ruled you out, we would rather you found out today. If you are unsure which side of the line you fall on, email support@callscoutpro.com and describe your phone setup. We will tell you straight.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Call detection requires an Android phone running version 5.0 or higher. There is no iOS version.

No. There is no CSV or bulk import. Customer records are created as calls arrive, and you can add or edit customers manually at any time.

Only if that landline also rings on an Android handset, for example through call forwarding. A desk phone that never rings an Android phone cannot be detected.
